The first Video Game Ever Licensed by the NHL and it isn’t what you think! Yes it was this game back in 1980 made for the Intellivision by Mattel Electronics. If you don’t believe me… check the photo below of the back of the box. Photo Below!
This game to today’s standards sucked! LOL… But for an old fart like me… the graphics where mind blowing! This was Next Level hockey video game (for the time)! Sad to say right? Watch this random youtube video I found of the game play below!
This game will always have a place in my heart! I am so happy to have it in my hockey video game collection. I will do my best to save them all from the dumpsters across America!
This just made my day! I got a package in the mail the other day! Asked everyone what could be inside? Because… I had no clue what was inside either… I opened it up to see all of this… It was like an endless sea of hockey goodness! Thank you Hockey gods!
Well now that I am free lancing… Working from home half the day has it’s perks! While some files where uploading… I grabbed my old street hockey stick! Which consists of an old Sherwood composite stick that broke and a Frontier Hockey ABS replacement blade. It works great for messing around in the driveway saucing a few so you don’t ruin you ice hockey stick! In this video I’m using the Extreme Passer Pro from Hockey shot, Green biscuit pro and The Original Hockey Sauce kit goal! Lots of fun if you don’t have a lot of time but need something hockey! It really can help anyone through the day… Even on your lunch hour at work. #staysaucy Code: UPPER10OFF for 10 bucks off 100 at hockey shot! never forget that and thanks everyone for your support!
Watched an interview with Will Smith the other day… yes the Fresh Prince! In that interview he talked about always being ready… I couldn’t agree more… So my point is… This off-season don’t let your hockey gear collect dust… You can do other things (sports, swim, surf, etc) don’t get me wrong… Staying active and having fun is the best way to stay in shape but there is nothing else more fun than hockey so get out and hockey snipe!
Oh the irony… or just plain bad luck… or blessing in disguise. You decide! I’ve been putting off getting an EZ Goal for a few years now… I have the Hockey Shot Sniper’s Edge shooting tarp and used the snot out of it… I also have access to a great outdoor rink facility…
But I’ve noticed since I moved the tarp into the garage and this winter we’ve been hammered with snow (not as bad as Boston… I don’t know how ya all did it God bless ya) I’ve been doing less and less off-ice training…
I know I know… practice what you preach… so I did just that… I saved my bucks from some of my online affiliate sales (yes please click my links and buy I get a small commission thanks in advance for the support) and bought myself an Ez Goal with back stop! I will do a full review soon…
So with all that said… I now have a chance to hockey snipe at home in the driveway and as I am shooting my first few snipes… I noticed a crack in my apx2… I must of broke it last week on a one timer! It broke my heart… loved that stick… but no problem… I have a back up… My total one… and on my first shift going into the boards the other play puts his skate right through the blade of my stick… so now I’m stuck using my cracked apx2… it held up but everyone was yelling at me to take a clapper and I just couldn’t… it knew the blade wouldn’t handle it… I had to explain to each guy on our team what happened… they really didn’t care they said “just take the slap shot anyways”…. I took one and it went way off to the right…
Well anyways the moral of the story is… well there really isn’t one…. I am still stoked to make the decision to get the EZ goal with back stop… I even took a few snipes with the broken apx2 shown in this vine video below:
If you are looking to buy any off-ice hockey training equipment please click the link below! Every little bit helps! and Thanks for the support!
“play it where it lies” and old golfing term… People find it except able to go to a driving range… batting cages… etc… so why not a hockey snipe range? Well I found this little patch of ice early in the winter season and took full advantage of it… the ice was a bit chunky and not very smooth but beggars can’t be choosers! Use what ya go and get out and Hockey Snipe! #hockeysnipe #uppercorner #hockey
Look I get it… the rink is frozen… I’ve seen skate marks but the gate still remains locked… The reason why I say “i get it” because the township workers have better things to do than to patrol the local ice rink to see if some old dude that wakes up at the crack of dawn wants to get some free ice time! Still I sure wish it was open! The ice was thin and the ground is cold making the ice easy to freeze! Here is another photo below of Greystone rink or aka Central Park of Morris County ice rink frozen over! First time of the year 2014 and 2015 winter!
But all wasn’t lost! I went over to rink #2 and found a frozen patch of ice… took some shots off it… I posted the video on Vine and #boom the damn video went viral! I guess no one has ever seen someone shoot off a frozen puddle of water lol! still great stuff and my first real “viral” video on vine see video below
Again I am in complete shock… this one might be one of those viral videos that could make or break someone… or not lol! Happy Hockey New Year everyone!
